Fairfax Media were seeking to redesign their trade facing site adcentre.com.au to better reflect their long-term strategy and day-to-day business as an integrated media company. They were running multiple sites for different divisions of the business and needed a unified platform for all Fairfax Media divisions to be showcased. In addition to the usability and technical aspects needing improvement, Fairfax wanted to create a destination that would inspire marketers and creative agencies to create industry leading innovative work for their mastheads..
Working with Fairfax to develop site user personas through stakeholder engagement sessions enabled us to determine the most desirable feature set. We then leveraged the insights to build the intuitive UX, develop working prototypes which were then overlaid with a contemporary design and immersive content.
To fulfil the business requirement of easy updates with maximum flexibility we built the CMS to incorporate drag and drop capability which gives near total flexibility on how a page will be laid out while ensuring consistency through prebuilt page elements. It also empowers the content editors to customise pages without the input of the development team, reducing ongoing support costs.
A content tag management and workflow system was implemented which automatically pulls in related content to any page the module is dropped on. This allows site visitors to explore and learn about projects, platforms, mastheads or research they may not have seen otherwise and reduces the effort required to manage the site.
We also implemented a simplified method of updating data feeds to support the hundreds of mastheads all requiring up-to-date stats for readership and audience segmentations. The result is an intuitively organised site that is visually inspiring and easy to manage by the marketing team.
